Track 1: Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity is a serious medical disorder that affects children and adolescents. It occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height. As methods to regulator body fat directly are difficult, the diagnosis of obesity is often based on Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is a measure used to determine childhood overweight and obesity. Overweight is well-defined as a BMI at or above the 85th percent and below the 95th percent for children and teens of the same age and sex. Obesity is definite as a BMI at or above the 95th percentile for children and teens of the same age and sex.

Track 2: Childhood Obesity Prevention

Food policy is the area of public policy concerning how food is produced, processed, distributed, and purchased. Many Childhood Obesity prevention Strategies and policies have been proposed to counter obesity and some of those proposed policies focus on altering the food system to influence dietary habits and thus obesity and nutrition by changing the choices available to consumers or by changing the incentives to choose. To reverse the obesity epidemic, places and practices need to support healthy eating and active living. The recommended strategies for  obesity prevention are Early Care, Nutrition Education Strategies, Physical Education Strategies, School Health Guidelines to Promote Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and School-Based Childhood Obesity Prevention Strategies- School Lunch Programs, After-School Programs.

Track 3: Child Nutrition

A healthy diet helps children grow and learn. It also helps obesity prevention and weight-related diseases, such as diabetes. Healthy eating can stabilize children’s energy, sharpen their minds, and even out their moods. While peer pressure and TV commercials for junk food can make getting kids to eat well seem impossible, Encouraging healthy eating behavior in children make a huge impact on their lifelong relationship with food choice and give them the best opportunity to grow into healthy, confident adults.

Track 4: Behavioural & Environmental Factors

The past few decades have brought lifestyle changes throughout the world that have resulted in children having reduced physical activity and increased caloric intake. The amount of time that children spend playing outside has diminished during the past few decades and physical educationnutrition education programs in schools have been reduced or eliminated. Living a sedentary lifestyle, children are spending more time watching television and playing on computers than exercising. Both physical activity and nutrition-focused interventions are already in place in many primary schools. Self-monitoring, increasing sports and physical activity are few of the psychological and behaviour change strategies to treat the disease of obesity either alone or in conjunction with other treatments.

Track 5: Diabetes & Endocrine Disorders

The endocrine framework is a system of organs that produce and discharge hormones that control numerous critical body metabolisms, including the body's capacity to change calories into energy that charge cells and organs. The endocrine system impacts how the heart pulsates, bones and tissues develop, even capacity to reproduce babies. It assumes a key part in regardless of whether you create diabetes, thyroid illness, development issue, sexual brokenness, and a large group of other hormone-related diseases.

Every organ of the endocrine system discharges particular hormones into your circulatory system. These hormones venture out through blood to different cells and control or arrange numerous body forms.

Track 6: Exercise & kinesiology

Physical exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. It can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases like type 2 diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease and have immediate and long-term health benefits. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life. A minimum of 30 minutes a day can allow you to enjoy the benefits of life.

Track 7: Childhood Obesity Treatment

The prevalence of morbid obesity has risen sharply in recent years, even among paediatric patients. Bariatric surgery is used increasingly in an effort to induce weight loss, improve medical comorbidities, enhance quality of life, and extend survival. Every effort is made to achieve non-surgical weight loss, but for a small group of children, medical, behavioural and nutritional approaches to weight loss may not be enough. Due to the considerable lifestyle changes surgery will bring about, the family and child must continue to commit to a strict program of healthy eating and exercise before he or she can be a candidate for surgery.

Track 8: Obesity and Oncology

Extra fat in the body can have harmful effects, like producing hormones and growth factors that affect the way our cells work. This can raise the risk of several diseases, including cancer. It's thought that more than 1 in 20 cancers in the UK are linked to being overweight or obese. Obesity is associated with increased risks of the following cancer types, and possibly others as well: Esophagus, Pancreas, Colon and rectum, Breast (after menopause), Endometrium (lining of the uterus), Kidney, Thyroid, and Gallbladder

Track 9: Dietary supplement

Dietary elements, commonly called "dietary minerals" or "minerals", are the chemical elements required by living organisms, other than the four elements carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen present in common organic molecules. The term "dietary mineral" is archaic, as the substances it refers are chemical elements rather than actual minerals. When you scan the vitamin and supplement shelves, you're likely to see weight loss touted as a benefit of vitamin B12, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, and green tea supplements. The purported benefits range from “revving up your metabolism” and “flipping a switch in your body” to “signalling your cells to burn fat.”

Track 10: Thyroid and Obesity

Thyroid dysfunction is associated with changes in body weight and composition, body temperature, and total and resting energy expenditure independently of physical activity. Moreover, weight gain often develops after treatment of thyroid dysfunction. Both subclinical and overt hypothyroidism is frequently associated with weight gain, decreased thermogenesis, and metabolic rate. In a recent cross-sectional, population-based study of 27,097 individuals above 40 yr. of age with body mass index (BMI) of at least 30.0 kg/m2, subclinical and overt hypothyroidism correlated with a higher BMI and a higher prevalence of obesity in both smokers and non-smokers. It has been noted that small variations in serum TSH caused by minimal changes in l-T4 dosage during replacement therapy are associated with significantly altered resting energy expenditure in hypothyroid patients. These studies support the clinical evidence that mild thyroid dysfunction is linked to significant changes in body weight and likely represents a risk factor for overweight and obesity.

Track 11: Anti-Obesity Drugs

Anti-obesity drugs include all pharmacological treatments intended to reduce or control weight. Because these drugs are intended to alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, anti-obesity drugs are medically prescribed only in cases of morbid obesity, where weight loss is life-saving. Anti-obesity drugs operate through one or more of the following mechanisms: Suppression of the appetite.

Epilepsy medications and catecholamine’s and their derivatives (such as amphetamine-based drugs) are the main tools used for this. Drugs blocking the cannabinoid receptors may be a future strategy for appetite suppression. [Citation needed] Increase of the body's metabolism. [Citation needed] Interference with the body's ability to absorb specific nutrients in food. Track 12: Genetics and Obesity

Like many other medical conditions, obesity is the result of interplay between behavior, environment, and genetic factors. Studies have identified variants in several genes that may contribute to weight gain and body fat distribution; although, only in a few cases are genes the primary cause of obesity.

Polymorphisms in various genes controlling appetite and metabolism predispose to obesity under certain dietary conditions. The percentage of obesity that can be attributed to genetics varies widely, depending on the population examined, from 6% to 85%. As of 2006, more than 41 sites on the human genome have been linked to the development of obesity when a favorable environment is present. The involvement of genetic factors in the development of obesity is estimated to be 40–70%. Some of these obesogenic or leptogenic genes may influence obese individual’s response to weight loss or weight management.

Importance and Scope

Childhood obesity is a serious medical disorder that affects children and adolescents. It occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height. As methods to regulator body fat directly are difficult, the diagnosis of obesity is often based on Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is a measure used to determine childhood overweight and obesity. Overweight is well-defined as a BMI at or above the 85th percent and below the 95th percent for children and teens of the same age and sex. Obesity is definite as a BMI at or above the 95th percentile for children and teens of the same age and sex.

BMI is calculated by measure of a person's weight in kilograms by the square of height in meters. For children and teens, BMI is age and sex specific and is often termed as BMI-for-age. This is because children's body structure varies as they age and varies among boys and girls. Hence, BMI levels among children and teens need to be expressed relation to other children of the similar age and sex.

Childhood Obesity prevention will need to both individual and social/cultural change in way of life. A large volume of current research will help clarify what will be most helpful. Hope Childhood Obesity 2017 would make it half the way.

Why Italy

Italy is well-known for its healthy way of life and Mediterranean diet – but the country is facing severe future health problems because of its overweight children. Reports state that the number of overweight and obese children in Italy was “among the most noteworthy on the planet" and that this will "provoke a greater demand for healthcare in the future.” As indicated by the OECD information, Greece has the most astounding rate of overweight and obese kids (5-17 aged) on the globe, followed by Italy, U.S. furthermore, Mexico. Italy's younger generation are increasingly eating more processed foods, more fast foods and more sugary desserts and beverages. A striking example of this can be seen in an aggressive publicizing effort dispatched by Coca-Cola in Italy in 2011.

Childhood Obesity rates are notoriously considered one of the highest (36% for boys and 34% for girls) In addition, WHO projections forewarn that by 2030 rising prevalence could see sickness rates almost twofold for specific populaces. In a country renowned for its regional variations in cuisine, Italians try not to take after an unbending arrangement of eating traditions, making it less demanding for commercial food advertisers to exploit. Considering the above criteria Italy would be the finest places for a conference on Childhood Obesity.
